!!!bonus work for everybody!!!

Students,

Read the short passage on the following website about why we learn history. React to it in a paragraph that explains whether you agree, disagree, don't care, etc and WHY. Feel free to ask parents or others what some of the terms mean and ask for help if needed. You may post your response as a comment (make sure your name is given) or email to daniel_mountain@butler.k12.pa.us if you don't want others to read it.

Remember, Learning history determines your future...

I really don’t care about why we study history. I don’t really care about how we don’t memorize history and we don’t memorize a landscape. I do, however agree that doing homework just because we were told to is not learning history, but we learn it for a grade. I don’t want to have to do with history when I grow up because I don’t think I will be an archeologist or anything. But if I had to learn History for my job, then yes, it would be important, but for now, I don’t have a job, so I just study History so I can get a good grade and be able to get a good job, when I may really need it.

We learn history so we can understand the present better and not be afarid of the future. You also study history so you can protect yourself and create yourself.

We never really understand history and why we learn it. It doesn't really interest us that much. I don't think any of us will ever be president, so that means we won't be making the BIG decisions. learning history is part of our daily routine:
*walk into class
*sit for 45 min., pretend to listen
*bell rings
*get up
*walk to next class
*REPEAT!!!

I do agree that we need to learn history to learn about what happened in the past. The past may also efect what may happens in the future. But, I also think that history takes alot of time studying and like the article said we cant just learn history by doing homework. So i also believe that it should be an option wether or not we take it.

I agree that we need to learn history. History reminds us of the past and what has happened. History also effects the future. For example, if people continue polluting the air by the overuse of cars. Eventually, over the years it could speed up global warming.
