John Brown is a crimianl. He should not have had to kill people to get his point across. He could have done it peacefully. He didn't need to steal those guns in the first place either. In conclusion, John Brown was a criminal.
First, he was a criminal because he killed people. He killed them because he wanted to stop slavery, which could have been done peacefully. Second, the guns he used to kill people were stolen from a gun shed thingy. That is another reason why he was a criminal. In conclusion, he shouldn'y have stole guns and kill people to get his point across.
Finally, John Brown was a criminal. He stole guns. He killed people with those guns. Even though it was for a good cause, it was still wrong to kill all of those people.

In my opinion, John Brown was a criminal. While his intentions were somewhat understandable, he went about his mission of getting slaves freedom in the worst way. Instead of peacfully campaining his opinion of freedom for slaves he killed innocent people. So how much better was he than the slavedrivers he was so very against. So I do say John Brown was indeed a criminal.

Many people belive differnt things about John Brown. I belive that he isnt a hero. I think this for many reasons. To begin, what he did to stop slavery made everything worse than i was to begin. If he would have tried and stop slavery in a nother way he would have been a hero. However instead of stopping slavery he killed the people that were for it. As you can see John Brown did not solve anything. That is why i think that John Brown isnt a hero.

I think that John Brown was a criminal for a few reasons. The first reason that I think that John Brown was a criminal is because he killed innocent citizens. A criminal does crime like killing people and even though slavery wasn't right it still wasn't illegal so he shouldn't have killed thoughs people. My second reason is because he stole from the amory. It is illegal to steal and he stole. The third reason is because even though slavery isn't right he took slaves which back in the day was considered someone's property and broke the law. Those are the reasons why I think John Brown was a criminal.

He was a crimnal. What he did was wrong. In the laws it says not to kill and he did not just kill one person he killed many people. He also stole things from armory like ammo and guns that did not belong to him. HE is not a hero because he kille many people. He did not try to solve things with out guns and weapons. Instead he tried to solve it with weapons and that was very wrong. In conclusion, JOHN BROWN was a crimnal.

John Brown is a rutless killer.
John Brown is responsible for many deaths. His insane ideas led to many lives being lost. Yes, I understand he though he was right but so do many present day serial killers. How does killing people ever solve a problem? Killing people only creates more problems! What if a person he killed became a doctor and found a cure or some new medicine? Why should we let some lunatic decide who dies and who lives. In my opinion John Brown is just as much a criminal as present day serial killers.

In my opinion, I believe that John Brown was a criminal. Why? Just looked what happened at Harper's Ferry. John Brown could of gotten his point across in a more subtle way that didn't involve killing people. I believe he should of helped the slaves, but he didn't have to do it so violently. Again, he is a criminal because he murdered all those people. I mean, some people are really dedicated to one thing, but not THAT dedicated. HE is a criminal because he is C-R-A-Z-Y!The guy probably had some mental issues, and the people who were abolitionist really should of gotten some background info on him before they let him abolition with them

John Brown was a criminal. He had a good cause to begin with but it became bad. His idea to end slavery and make peace was great but he took it to another level. Instead of being humane and settling the conflict in debate, he killed people. That is just as bad as being a slave owner. He went too far and should have been stopped. I understand why some would call him a hero before he raided Harper's Ferry. But someone thinking he was a hero after is disgusting.

My opion is that John brown is a criminal because look what he had done in Harpers Ferry. John Brown took the whole situation overboard I think.Who would go get a huge militia and rade the town and kill innocent people.Yeah slavery was bad,but why kill innocent people over that.My opion is that John Brown was a crazy man who took it way overboard and should thought something else to do. Also i think that it was good that they had killed him because since he killed some people that didnt have any slaves it was his turn to.Some of the people in Harpers Ferry hadnt done anything to him.In away thow John Brown was tryin to do what he wanted , but instead he didnt use his head and did many WRONG things. So i happen to think John Brown is a criminal instead of a heroe.

I think John Brown was a hero because he didnt think it was right to haves slaves.John Brown took from the rich and gave to the poor. Ya, maybe he did steal weapons and kill people but he did it so slaves could be free. I would have done the same thing. Plus, now in the U.S., there is no slavery so he was obviously was fighting for the right reason. John Brown was a hero.

If I had to pick if John Brown was a hero or a criminal I think that he is more of a criminal than a hero. He is a criminal because he killed many people for other people to have freedom.
One reason he is a criminal is because he killed many people. He wanted slaves to be free so badly that he killed the people in his way to get the slaves free. I think that eventually the slavery would end and that Brown wouldn't have had to kill 100's of people.
What John Brown did was nice for the slaves but it was crazy that he would kill people in order to do so.
So as a conclusion, I think that what happened to John Brown was the correct thing to do to him. I think that John Brown acted horribly and that he never though before he acted. Even though the slaves though he was a hero, to all others he was a crazy criminal.

John Brown was a very great person in our history. I think he was both a hero and a criminal but, more of a criminal.
I think the John brown is a criminal. He was a criminal becase he killed so many people while trying to do what he thought was right. The crim that John did was that he killed the people who held slaves.
When he went to Harper's Ferry he went for one reason and that reason was to get in to the armory to get guns and amo for his men to kill anyone who was a slave holder.
In the end he was hanged for treason and murder. Though when he came to a gallow he wasn't scared he thought what he did was a great service to god and not a bad service to god. He said that what he did was right and in someways it was a good service beacuse he was trying to save all the slaves but, then again he killed allthose people. This is why I think tha John Brown was more a criminal then a hero.

I think john brown hero because he was fighting for a good cause. first He was big on freedom and rights of slaves. Even though he was fighting for a good cause though he still has to pay the price of his braking of the law.second he was helping slaves escapes from their plantations. The way he did this he could be considered a slave hero just like hariot tubman. Last, he was willing to die for what he thought was right. This would show that he fights in what he believe in.

John brown was responsible for alot americans death. I still think he was a hero. None of the slave owners would listen to anyone about slavery so he had to do what he did. He helped end slavery. There are more people are free now than people who died back then

I believe he was a hero. As we know, in the US, there is no slavery. So He was obviously fighting for the right reason. It is also like the story of robin hood. He was stealing from the rich, the free people, and giving to the poor, the slaves. And we should all be thankful for what he did. If he hadn't done it, the south may have won the war and we could possibly be slaves ourselves. John Brown may not seem like it, but he is a true hero.

JOHN BROWN IS A HERO!!!!!!!!!!

I say that John brown was a hero.I think he is a hero because he was fighting against slavery.he was fighting against slavery because he beleived that slavery is wrong and beleived that africans should have free rights too...
Also YES he did steal the guns and ammo and stuff but he used it to fight for slaves. Even tho this coulda been done without violence.. it was the right thing to do because the farmers and people that had slaves would not let their slaves bee, so John had to fight for whats right... And since the slave owners would not agree with him he had to fight to get his point across. In conclusion,... John Brown is Not a criminal he did whats right. Even tho he is responsible for many deaths of americans he did whats right!!!!! JOHN BROWN IS NOT A CRIMINAL

I believe that John Brown was a hero but there were better ways to get the job he did done. He was way to violent. The attack at Harpers Ferry was cleary a violent and treamdoulsly bad deed. However the cause of this was good. Slavery is bad.

The violent outbreaks of this man were unexceptable. This man had to be crazy or psychotic in some way shape or form. I belive He had a good reason to do this however slavery is a very horrible and ugly thing.

I believe the that protests against slavery should be done like Martin Luther King Jr. did in his fight against civil rights. If the act at harpers ferry was like that he would not have been hung and might have been able to right a book or something.

I don't think he was a hero because he killed people to stop slavery which is just as bad. If he really wanted to stop slavery, he could have thought of a more peaceful way to do it. He was crazy and killed people for no reason to end slavery. He was just as bad as the slave owners. Atleast the slaves got to live instead of being killed by John Brown

I think John Brown was a hero and a criminal. First of all he help people and free many slaves, but also he is a criminal for killing those people. murder is unmoral but slavery is also wrong but killing people is worst than slavery if I lived back in those times I would lock him up in jail. Anyway the way I see it is John is just misunderstood and since we dont know him we cant say alot accept for our opions.
So he could be considered both.

John Brown is a hero in the eyes of many people. But to some people, he is a complete criminal. I see John Brown as a very crazed person of American history; a criminal.
John Brown may have felt that he was doing good deeds, but to me it is the complete opposite. First, he broke many laws such as stealing. He stole arms from the arsenal in Harper's Ferry. Next, he took the lives of many innocent people. Slave owners may be seen as guilty now, but slave owning was a legal right to U.S. citizens back then. Finally, Brown may be seen to have helped end slavery, but he may have made it worse. John Brown caused complete havoc to Harper's Ferry and the whole town was stirred. In my opinion, John Brown is a criminal.
To a lot of people, John Brown is a hero, but to me and many other people, John Brown is an all around theft and horrible man.

I believe John Brown was, in a way, both criminal and hero. Brown had all good intentions because he wanted to help out the slaves, but just good intentions doesn't count for everything. His raids also gave everyone something else to argue about; this split the country even more. Brown ended up killing many people with his mad raids. He created further disaster that wasn't exactly needed. He had the right idea, but it just went a little mad. John Brown, as you can see, is a criminal and a hero.

I belive John Brown was both a criminal and a hero. First of all I think he was a criminal. He raided the armory and took the lives of many people that got in his way. Secondly, he was a hero. he helped out the slaves and took lives of many people because he wanted to arm the slaves. Lastly, John Brown was a criminal because of all of the raids he started and ended ones in a bloddy battle. Because of him innocent people died. In conclusion, John Brown was both a hero and a criminal because of what he had down to save the slaves, and to keep them protected.
